Like most major cities, Oklahoma City has a sizeable education system; about 38,000 students attend 82 public and some 30 private high schools and elementaries.
The city also has numerous institutions of higher education, both public and private. Oklahoma State University has a campus in OKC, serving about 10,000 students. Located on 143-acres, Oklahoma City Community College is well-known for its health careers programs and training for community businesses.
OKC also is home to several small, private colleges, several with religious affiliations. Oklahoma City University, aligned with the United Methodist Church, has an enrollment of 3,700 undergrads and graduate students. The city also is home to Oklahoma Christian University, affiliated with the churches of Christ.
