Housing

Seeking shelter in Oklahoma City means making choices. It also means that if you are willing to look hard enough, you may find a real bargain. As is often the case in oil patch communities, OKC’s housing market is often subject to outside forces, not the least of which are OPEC and storms in the Gulf of Mexico.

Still, OKC remains affordable. A recent study by Ernst & Young showed it to have the lowest prices for executive-level housing in the entire U.S. A report by Coldwell Banker said it has the third lowest price of any city for a 2,200 square foot home: $114,000 compared to double-that in Orlando, Fla. Chamber of Commerce researchers found that OKC also had one of lowest costs of living of any major metro area in the nation.

Single family housing is available in most locales of the city. Likewise, rental units can be found all over OK City, with many proliferating in Bricktown. Keep in mind, OKC has a lot of college students competing for housing.
